Successful students
                                                               9
9. . . . don’t cram for exams. Successful students that divided periods of study are more effective than cram sessions and they practice it.
if there is one thing that study skills specialists are on. It is that distributed study is better than massed, late night, last-ditch efforts known as cramming. You’ll learn more, remember more, and earn a higher grade by studying in four, one hour-a- night sessions for Friday’s exam than studying for four hours straight on Thursday night. Short, concentrated preparatory efforts are more efficient and rewarding than wasteful, inattentive, last moment marathons. Yet, so many students fail to learn this lesson and end up repeating it over and over again until it becomes a wasteful habit. Not to clever, huh?
When you cram, you are taking the shortcut, and shortcuts never produce any real worthwhile results. Also, when you take shortcuts, you feel rather rotten knowing that you could have done better but didn’t. shortcuts cut you short. You cant plant watermelon seeds and harvest fresh watermelons the next day. It takes time. Cramming for a test to project and expecting to make high score the next day is like planting watermelon seeds and expecting to harvest and eat fresh watermelon the next day. Plus cramming for a test or project doesn’t help you academically, so why even do it. Plan ahead, prepare ahead. Give yourself plenty of days and weeks to prepare for upcoming accountability opportunities.

Successful students
7-8
7.understand that actions affect learning. Successful students know their personal behavior affect their feelings and emotions which affect in turn can affect learning.
If you can act a certain way that normally produces particular feelings, you will begin to experience those feelings. Act like you’re bored, and you will become bored. Act like your disinterested and you’ll become disinterested. So the next time you have trouble concentrating in classroom, act like an interested person: lean forward, place your feet flat on the floor maintain eye contact with the professor, nod occasionally, take notes, and ask questions. Not only will you benefit directly from your actions, your classmates and professor may also get more excited and enthusiastic.
8.talk about t=what they are learning. Successfully students get to know something well enough that they can put into words talking about something, with friends or classmates is not only good for checking weather or not you know something it’s a proven learning tool. Transferring ideas into words provides the most direct path for moving knowledge from short term to long term memory. You really don’t know material until you can put it into words. So the next time you study, don’t do it silently. Talk about notes problems reading, ect. With friends, recite to a chair, organize an oral story group, pretend your teaching peers ‘’talk learning’’ produces a whole new set of memory traces that result in more learning

study method

Study for Multiple Exams
Part 2
My strategies for written assignments: Everyone has their own writing styles. I generally come up with an idea and do massive amounts of research then sometimes prepare an outline before actually writing. I always print out the paper and come back to it the next day and reread it. That is the easiest way for me to catch my own mistakes. I have to give my eyes a break from it, and if I just wrote it I think it looks perfect. But if I look at it a day later I almost always find grammatical errors or phases and sentences I just want to reword. How I can succeed in team projects: never assume someone is doing what they are supposed to be doing. Have regular meetings and have each member show their work, not just give your or the group word for it

  Study for Multiple Exams
Part 1
How I study for multiple exams, deal with multiple projects: really it is my time management that explained above. If I see I have multiple things due or to study for all at the same time I spread out my time beforehand. For example, if I have a test on Monday, and 2 tests Tuesday then I will study for my Monday test Thursday and part of Friday. Start studying for my next test on the second half of Friday, and part of Saturday as well as part of Sunday. Then Sunday night I can review for my Monday test because I already studied for it. When that test is over I can begin reviewing for the other tests. My overall study method: try to break it up over several days or at least two. I got bogged down if I tried to pull all night. How I’ve overcame an initial bad grade: if I have received a low grade I probably knew it was coming because I didn’t use the right study method habit for that class. I usually try to go over what I did wrong and sometime discuss with the teacher what I can do differently on the next exam or what they suggest I do for the next exam

Sarah’s academic success story
   part 2
My test study method: I have different strategies for different types of test or subjects. For me, any type of math is exceptionally difficult so I had to spend extra time on that. I would go back through the homework problems focusing on the problems that I had extra difficulty on. Many times I would ask the teacher for an additional study materials they could provide. If it was class that required memorization or applying concepts I would create a sort of study guide for myself many times focusing on what were key focal points in the class. If I knew there were going to be essays I would try to take terms and apply them to an example or create different questions on the concepts focused on throughout the semester.
my time management secret: I always, always, always carry a planner with me. I even use different color highlighters to show what each event on my calendar is for. For example, pink is personal, yellow is school, orange is work, blue is for appointments, and green is for my sorority. Although I use white- out frequently, I can see in bright yellow that if I have that project for finance due on Tuesday, I need to start working on it on [the previous] Wednesday so I can just get it done. My friends have always been amazed at how early I get things accomplished but that is really all I do.

work together p 2

Work Together
Part 2
English, math, foreign language tips: For math all I can say is do problems assigned. It is the only way to practice and that’s really all it is for math. It is the same for chemistry; if you do the practice problems you will understand the material so much better because those subjects are not just memorization like history, you need to be able to apply what you have learned in practical situations as for English I am no longer taking It, but I would say to leave yourself plenty of time to write essays and papers. They take time to get all the information out of your head and onto the page, so I don’t leave them until the last second

work together

Work Together
Part 1
I can and will work together as part of the team as long as everyone in the team is willing to do the work. I don’t like having to pick up the slack, but I will if I know that my grade will be harmed otherwise. My greatness academic success was in my first semester when I had to write a 10-12 research paper. It was the longest paper I had ever been assigned and I was a little scared. Also, it was paper where they were like, here you go, just write about something I had to argue in favor of or against something, but It could be anything from the sky is blue to hypnotism. I wrote mine on hypnotism. I worked on this paper for weeks and weeks. Every night I would be doing research or writing. I put so much effort into this paper. It ended up being just under 12 pages but it was full on information. I turned it in and when I got back a week or so later, I had received the first A+ of my college career. All my hard work paid off because I got the grade I deserved. I was really happy and proud of my self
